The MAX3222 is a multichannel RS-232 line driver and receiver designed to operate with a supply voltage range of 3 V to 5.5 V. It features two line drivers and two line receivers, along with a dual charge-pump circuit that enables operation from a single supply. The device supports data signaling rates of up to 250 kbit/s and has a maximum driver output slew rate of 30 V/Oºs. It provides ¬±15 kV ESD protection on the serial-port connection pins, ensuring robust performance in various applications. The MAX3222 can be powered down to draw only 1 OºA from the power supply, while keeping the receivers active in a high-impedance state. It is suitable for battery-powered systems, PDAs, laptops, and other handheld devices. The device requires four small external capacitors for the charge pump, making it a compact solution for RS-232 communication needs.
