Momentive RTV106 is a one-component, high-temperature silicone adhesive sealant with a paste consistency, designed for applications requiring durability and resilience. It cures at room temperature and ambient humidity, releasing acetic acid vapors during the curing process. The product is colored red and has a tack-free time of approximately 20 minutes. It exhibits excellent adhesion to various substrates, including metals, glass, ceramics, and some plastics, although primers may be necessary for challenging surfaces. The cured sealant demonstrates a Shore A hardness of 30, an elongation of 400%, and a dielectric strength of 20 kV/mm. It can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 260¬8C and intermittent temperatures up to 315¬8C. RTV106 is compliant with FDA regulations for food contact and meets military specifications (MIL-A-46106), making it suitable for critical bonding and sealing applications, including electrical insulation and gasketing for heating elements.
Momentive RTV106 is a versatile, ready to use adhesive sealant which cures to a tough, durable resilient silicone rubber. Uncured, this high temperature general purpose sealant has a paste consistency which can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces where pourable/self- levelling sealants are not practical.
RTV106 will bond to many clean surfaces without the aid of primers. These surfaces typically include many metals, glass, ceramic, silicone rubbers and some rigid plastics. For difficult-to-bond substrates, the use of a primer is suggested. Depending on the substrates involved, various primers are recommended for use with these sealants, specifically SS4004, SS4044 and SS4179.
This product is suited for a range of applications including sealing heating elements gasketing; electrical insulation and other critica l bonding and sealing applications where parts must perform at high temperatures
