The Saturn 8522P multiport serial controller is a Universal PCI board that is compatible with the PCI Local Bus Specification Revision 2.2. The Saturn 8522P card operates in either a 5.0V or 3.3V signaling environment. However, this card must be installed in a PCI slot that provides 3.3V power.
The Saturn 8522P PCI serial communications controller offers data transfer rates up to 256 kbps synchronous and 230.4 kbps asynchronous, full duplex. Interface options include RS-232 and RS-422/485 with DB-25 connectors via an external breakout box. Optional synchronous data communications protocols including X.25 and HDLC are available for SPARC systems. Solstice (SunLink) protocols are fully supported.
The Saturn 8522P supports SPARC Solaris, Rev. 8, 9, and 10; Solaris x86, Rev. 8 and 10; and Linux.
