UTC 2412BD is an electrical interface designed for connection between a tow vehicle and an SAE 560 commercial trailer. The advantage of the interface is its ability to accept voltage inputs conforming to either SAE 560 (12V) or ISO 1185 (24V) standards. By also sensing these levels, the interface automatically responds to supply appropriate corresponding 12V outputs to the trailer, without degrading any multiplexed signals that may be present in the inter vehicular circuits. This dual capability makes trailer usage more flexible, especially in countries where 12V and 24V tow vehicles may be required to be used interchangeably. Once the interface is installed, its 7 pin input socket becomes treated as the input to the trailer while its 7 conductor output cable is wired into the trailer input junction box.
