Steam Jet Blowers utilize the ejector-venturi principle to move large volumes of air and other gases against low back pressures. The Steam Jet Blower normally utilizes high-pressure steam as the motive force, but compressed air or gas at 15 psig or higher can also be used. They are furnished in cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals including aluminum. Special models with high-capacity fixed nozzles can also be provided when required. Operation of the Steam Jet Blower is relatively simple; high-pressure gas enters through an inlet in the side of the unit and is directed through a pressure nozzle at high velocity and into a series of mixing nozzles. Here the suction gases are entrained by the motive gas and discharged through the venturi diffuser. Jet Blowers are used for ventilating and exhausting purposes in many industries. Advantages Simple, trouble-free units for standby or intermittent use where operating cost is not the primary consideration. Steam use and velocity through venturi prevents flame propagation where inflammable gases are handled. Compactness and lack of maintenance requirements make its use for occasional ventilating of oil tanks and tanker pump rooms and holds advantageous. Special units can be manufactured of suitable materials for high temperature service. Applications Used for venting dry cargo spaces on tankers. Drawing off obnoxious vapors from heavy oil agitator and discharging them into a plant furnace where they are burnt off. Used for heat and combustion products ventilation. Removing asphalt fumes from storage units. Exhausting bulk storage holds aboard ships. Removing fumes and vapors. Ventilate grain silo.
