The STA6940M is a brushed DC motor driver IC with PWM control, designed for full-bridge operation using internal N-channel MOSFETs. It is housed in a 18-pin ZIP (STA) fully-molded package with through-hole mounting. The device operates from a main supply voltage of 10 to 40 V and a logic supply voltage of 3 to 5.5 V, delivering a continuous output current of 4 A with peak capability of 8 A for 100 µs. It features fixed off-time PWM control with slow decay (35 µs) and fast decay (142 µs) modes, internal overcurrent and thermal shutdown protection, and an integrated charge pump. The maximum junction temperature is 150 °C, and the operating ambient temperature range is -20 to 85 °C.
