The A4942 is a three-phase sensorless fan driver with integrated BEMF sensing to eliminate Hall sensors, closed-loop speed control, and adjustable current limiting. It accepts a PWM input for speed control over a wide frequency range and provides an FG speed output. The device includes soft start, lock detection, and soft switching to reduce audible noise. It is supplied in a 20-contact 4 mm × 4 mm QFN package with an exposed thermal pad for enhanced heat dissipation. The part operates over an ambient temperature range of -40 to 105 °C, with a maximum junction temperature of 150 °C. Thermal resistance is 75 °C/W on a 2-sided PCB with 0.60 in² copper or 37 °C/W on a 4-layer JEDEC standard PCB.
