The DS232A is a dual RS-232 driver/receiver designed to operate from a single +5V power supply, eliminating the need for additional ¬±12V supplies. It features on-board charge pumps that generate the necessary RS-232 voltage levels, achieving data rates of up to 250 kbits/sec. The device is compliant with EIA-232E and V.28 specifications and includes two drivers and two receivers. The drivers are TTL/CMOS compatible and can drive loads up to 3 kOc, while the receivers can accept input signals of ¬±25 volts. The DS232A is available in multiple package options, including 16-pin DIP, SOIC, and 20-pin TSSOP, with an optional industrial temperature range of -40¬8C to +85¬8C. It requires only small external capacitors (0.1 OºF) for operation, making it suitable for space-constrained applications.
