The ADM489AN is a low power, full-duplex differential line transceiver designed for RS-485 and RS-422 communication standards. It operates from a single 5 V ¬± 10% power supply and supports data rates up to 250 kbps. The device features a bus common-mode range of ,àí7 V to +12 V and an input impedance of 12 kOc, allowing for up to 32 transceivers on the bus. This transceiver includes a thermal shutdown circuit to prevent excessive power dissipation during fault conditions, as well as a fail-safe feature that outputs a logic high when inputs are unconnected. The ADM489AN is fabricated using BiCMOS technology, combining low power CMOS with fast switching bipolar technology, and is specified for operation over an industrial temperature range of ,àí40¬8C to +85¬8C.
