The ISL3153EIBZ is a full duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver designed for balanced communication, featuring ¬±16.5kV ESD protection on its I/O bus pins. It operates with a 5V power supply and supports high data rates of up to 20 Mbps. The device offers a minimum differential output voltage (VOD) of 2.4V when driving a 54Oc load, enhancing noise immunity and allowing for the connection of up to eight 120Oc terminations in star topologies. This transceiver presents a true 1/8 unit load to the RS-485 bus, enabling the connection of up to 256 devices without the need for repeaters. The receiver inputs are designed with a full fail-safe feature, ensuring a logic high output under conditions such as floating or shorted inputs. Additionally, the ISL3153EIBZ includes hot plug circuitry, allowing the transmitter and receiver outputs to remain in a three-state condition during power transitions. With low quiescent supply current of 600¬µA and ultra-low shutdown current of 70nA, this device is suitable for applications requiring efficient power management, such as utility meters, factory automation, and security camera networks.
