The HC5503CB from Quarktwin Technology Ltd. is a low-cost Subscriber Line Interface Circuit (SLIC) designed for use in small analog or mixed analog and digital key telephone systems (KTS) and PBX products. It features a wide operating battery range of -21V to -44V and requires a single additional +5V supply. The device supports a short loop current limit of 25mA and includes functionalities such as a ring relay driver, switch hook and ring trip detection, and low on-hook power consumption. This integrated solution minimizes internal power dissipation and is designed using dielectrically isolated bipolar technology, making it inherently latch-proof and eliminating the need for hot plug or power supply sequencing precautions. The HC5503CB is available in a 24-lead SOIC package and is pin-compatible with the industry-standard HC5504B SLIC. It is also offered in a Pb-free version, suitable for both SnPb and Pb-free soldering operations. Engineers should note that the HC5503CB is not recommended for new designs, with a recommended replacement part being the HC5503PRC.
