The Toronita Model 40P densifier is a horizontal machine which densifies material against a heavy duty bulkhead door. Single slugs of material are produced. Operation is automatic, with the unit being activated by an electric eye which senses material in the loading hopper. The machine senses when there is a complete slug and signals the operator to unload the machine. To unload, the operator raises the hydraulically operated front door and ejects the densified slug of material. The door is then lowered and densification of the next slug continues. The output capacity for expanded polystyrene material is up to 150 lbs. per hour, or up to 6,000 aluminum cans per hr. The machine is equipped with a 15 HP motor operating at 230 or 460 volts, with a 180 gallon reservoir.
