Polyplastics USA, Inc. FR-PET® GF-PET B3045FA (ISO)

Description
FR-PET is based on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin employed in the familiar PET bottle. This resin was originally famous as the synthetic fiber Tetron, but recently, it has become more famous as a beverage container material. PET started life as an engineering plastic when Teijin blended the resin with glass fibers to increase its mechanical strength and heat resistance by leaps and bounds, and commercialized it as the injection molding FR-PET3030 series of grades. Characteristics • FR-PET has superior heat resistance and electrical properties that are on a par with thermoset resins. Moreover, it is a thermoplastic resin. • Deflection temperature under load is 220-242°C, one of the highest values for general-purpose engineering plastics. • FR-PET exhibits excellent mechanical and other properties, even during extended exposure to high temperature environments. • As the water absorption ratio is small, there are almost no changes in electrical and other properties as a result of post-molding water absorption. • For surface mount technology (SMT) processes, FR-PET is compatible with vapor-phase solder reflow methods.
