The Pickering Series 200 reed relay, part number 200RF50-1-A-5/2D, is a surface mount coaxial relay with a 50Ω impedance, designed for RF applications up to 5GHz. It features a plastic package with internal mu-metal shielding for side-by-side mounting, withstands reflow soldering temperatures, and has an insulation resistance greater than 10¹² ohms. The device has a 5V coil, operates in 0.5ms with a release time of 0.2ms, and is rated for 10W at 200V with a dry switch contact. Capacitance across the closed switch is 2.5pF, and across the open switch is 0.1pF. A protective flexible encapsulant surrounds the reed switch, and the part includes an internal diode. Dimensions are 15.25mm × 5.85mm × 6.0mm (0.6in × 0.23in × 0.24in).

The special high temperature plastic package will withstand the temperatures associated with Infra-red or vapour phase reflow soldering processes. A flexible inner encapsulant protects the sensitive glass/metal reed switch seals - this is a very big advantage over the more usual hard moulded package.
