The Pickering Series 200 is a range of surface mount reed relays, including 50Ω coaxial types for RF applications up to 5GHz. The 200RF50-1-A-12/2D variant features a 12V coil, Form A contact (energize to make), and includes an internal diode. It has a plastic encapsulated package with internal mu-metal shielding, supports dry contact switching with an insulation resistance greater than 10¹² Ω, and is rated for 10 watts at 200V. The package dimensions are 17.25 mm × 15.25 mm × 6.0 mm, and it is designed for reflow soldering compatibility. The part has a typical operate time of 0.5 ms and release time of 0.2 ms, with a maximum switching capacity of 10⁸ operations under specified loads.

Both dry and mercury wetted switches are available in a wide range of configurations including coaxial types for RF up to 5GHz, or high speed digital switching with a step response time of less than 30ps. The special high temperature plastic package will withstand the temperatures associated with Infra-red or vapour phase reflow soldering processes. A flexible inner encapsulant protects the sensitive glass/metal reed switch seals - this is a very big advantage over the more usual hard moulded package.
