SO-440-16ZI is a through-hole threaded self-clinching standoff designed for installation in steel or aluminum sheets with a Rockwell B hardness of 80 or less. It has a #4-40 thread, a nominal length of 0.500 inches (16 in 32nds of an inch), and a minimum hole size of 0.040 inches. The standoff installs with its head flush to the sheet surface and is suitable for applications requiring permanent mounting in thin metal. The ZI suffix indicates optional nickel plating for corrosion resistance. This part belongs to the SO series, which shares a self-clinching design that permanently mounts into sheets as thin as 0.025 inches.
