The S-M3-1ZC self-clinching nut from PennEngineering® is designed for permanent installation in aluminum, steel, or stainless steel sheets. It is installed by placing it in a properly sized hole and applying a parallel squeezing force, which causes the surrounding sheet metal to cold flow into an undercut, securing the nut in place. This nut type provides load-bearing threads in thin sheets and exhibits high resistance to pushout and torque-out forces. The serrated clinching ring ensures that the fastener remains stationary after installation. It is suitable for applications requiring reliable fastening in materials with a hardness of HRB 80 or less and HB 150 or less. Custom sizes are available upon request.
Type S, SS, CLS, and CLSS nuts provide load-bearing threads in thin sheets with high pushout and torque-out resistance.
Type SP, PEM 300® nuts provide strong load-bearing threads in stainless steel sheets as thin as .030”.
Types S and SS are recommended for use in steel or aluminum sheets HRB (Rockwell “B” scale) 80 or less and HB (Hardness Brinell) 150 or less.
