The ICP® Impact Hammer, model TLD086D50, features a sensitivity of 1 mV/lbf and a measurement range of ± 5,000 lbf (± 22,240 N). It has a resonant frequency of at least 5 kHz and a non-linearity of less than 1%. The device operates with an excitation voltage of 20 to 30 VDC and requires a constant current excitation of 2 to 20 mA. The output impedance is less than 100 Ohm, and the output bias voltage ranges from 8 to 14 VDC. Physically, the hammer has a mass of 12.1 lb (5.5 kg), a head diameter of 3.0 in (7.6 cm), and a length of 35 in (89 cm). The electrical connection is located at the bottom of the handle and utilizes a BNC jack. The sensing element is made of quartz and the hammer is hermetically sealed. The product is also TEDS capable, compliant with IEEE P1451.4, allowing for digital memory and communication. Supplied accessories include two types of tips and a calibration model for the instrumented impact hammers.
