The MPSA42 is an NPN silicon planar epitaxial transistor in a TO-92 package, designed for low collector current applications such as lamp drivers and neon tubes. It has a collector-emitter voltage rating of 300 V, a continuous collector current of 500 mA, and a power dissipation of 625 mW at 25°C, derating at 5 mW/°C above that temperature. The device features a collector-emitter saturation voltage of up to 0.5 V at 20 mA collector current and 2 mA base current, a DC current gain (hFE) of at least 40 at 10 mA and 30 mA collector current, and a transition frequency of 50 MHz. Operating and storage junction temperatures range from -55°C to +150°C. The TO-92 package dimensions are 4.32-5.33 mm in height, 4.45-5.2 mm in width, and 3.18-4.19 mm in thickness. It meets RoHS compliance.
