Modern Linear Track is used in conjunction with guide rollers and bushings to create a linear guide within your preexisting machine frame. Single edge track incorporates a 90° v-edge that mates with the guide roller groove. The track profile includes a mounting shoulder, which creates a square edge that facilitates accurate mounting to a base or frame. Standard track is made from AISI 1045 steel and is also available in 420 stainless steel (SS). Typically, two single edge tracks are used in conjunction with four rollers to make-up a linear slide system.Installed track straightness is critical to the performance of the assembled system. The thin cross section of Modern Linear track makes it easy to setup and install. Track should be straight and parallel to each other when mounted. Each track will conform to the accuracy or straightness of its base or frame. A common practice is to mount one piece of track as straight as possible; then use the carriage to set the position and parallelism of the opposing track. The v-edge of Modern Linear track is case hardened to 49-52 Rc. The remaining unhardened track is ideal for drilling or other machining. Track is stocked with and without holes in 146" lengths. Stock, drilled track has industry standard hole size and spacing for ease of mounting. Optional custom hole size and spacing are available. Additionally, track lengths up to 22 feet and alternate treatments including black oxide, thin dense chrome, and PTFE coating may be special ordered.Modern Linear track is completely interchangeable with industry standard track.
