The MT8979AE1 is a single-chip CEPT digital trunk transceiver designed to meet the CCITT Recommendation G.704 for digital multiplex equipment. It operates at a primary rate of 2048 kbit/s and includes a CRC-4 option. The device supports selectable HDB3 or AMI line coding and provides transmit and receive frame synchronization signals. Key features include a two-frame elastic buffer with a 32 ¬µsec jitter buffer, frame alignment, and CRC error counters. It also supports the insertion and detection of A, B, C, D signaling bits with optional debounce, and has an on-chip attenuation ROM for ADI codecs. The MT8979AE1 is compatible with ST-BUS and is suitable for applications such as primary rate ISDN network nodes, multiplexing equipment, and high-speed computer links.
