The device is equipped with 16 bytes of transmit and receive FIFOs, enabling efficient data handling, and supports data rates up to 3.125 Mbps at 5V. The enhanced register set is compatible with the ST16C2550 and XR16L2550, providing additional operational status and error tagging capabilities.
