The ST16C550IQ48 is a universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter (UART) featuring 16-byte transmit and receive FIFOs. It operates within a voltage range of 2.97 to 5.5 volts and supports clock operations of up to 24 MHz at 5V and 16 MHz at 3.3V. The device includes a programmable baud rate generator capable of selecting transmit and receive clock rates from 50 bps to 1.5 Mbps. This UART is designed for full duplex operation and includes four selectable receive FIFO interrupt trigger levels. It is compatible with the industry-standard 16C550 and offers complete modem control capabilities along with a processor interrupt system that can be tailored to user requirements.
