The NC506 is a noise module in the NC500 Series, generating white Gaussian noise with a minimum of 31 dB ENR across a frequency range of 200 kHz to 5 GHz. It requires a supply current of 10 mA and operates with +12 V, +15 V, or +28 V inputs. The output flatness is ±3.0 dB for the through-hole version and ±4.0 dB for the surface mount variant. It is housed in a TO-8 metal can for the through-hole version, with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +85°C. The surface mount version, NC506SM, is available with the SM suffix and operates from 0°C to +70°C. Both versions include integrated bias circuits and require no external components.
The NC500 (through-hole) and NC500SM (surface mount) Series noise modules are an economical solution for built-in test requirements. They contain complete bias circuits and require no external components. Some models contain additional gain stages for high power ENR output (51 dB). The surface mount package is suitable for mounting on micro strip. The modules have extremely flat output power versus frequency characteristics that are insensitive to temperature and voltage variations.
