Bioactive glass has high biocompatibility. For cosmetics and cosmeceuticals, the unique biocompatibility of bioactive glass translates into absolute skin compatibility. Bioactive glass releases the ions contained in its components when it is reactively reacted with water or human tissue fluid because of their high bioavailability.
