Start with the Box... The box is a rugged weatherproof enclosure that is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. Constructed from fiberglass reinforced polyester, it is well suited for high temperature or corrosive environments. The mounting flange allows it to be wall mounted as well as on a flat surface. The raised lid features a stainless steel continuous hinge and stainless steel quick release latches with padlock hasps. The raised lid has a full gasket rim seal. The enclosure material is UV stabilized and comes in machine tool gray. Mounting Plate The aluminum mounting plate has provisions to mount WLAN equipment from Cisco®, Symbol®, D-Link®, HyperLink and more. With the optional HGX-AMOUNT02 bracket a wide array of HyperLink products can be mounted as well. Two of these brackets can be mounted side by side. Also available is the HGX-NMOUNT03 Universal Mounting Shelf that can be attached to the mounting plate and can accommodate additional equipment to be placed in the enclosure. Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) The Mounting Plate features an 802.3af compatible PoE interface to power the thermostatically controlled cooling fan. The fan can be powered by the majority of 802.3af compliant Switches, Midspans or injectors operating in Mode A or B with normal or inverted polarity. The caveat is the fan requires its own PoE interface, usually from a spare port on the Switch or Midspan. At least two Ethernet cables must be pulled to the enclosure, one to power the fan, and one or more for the equipment. This eliminates the need for a separate passive PoE injector as required by other L-com PoE enclosures. Cooling Fan The NB141207-40FAF model includes a thermostat controlled 48 VDC Cooling Fan that is powered via the CAT 5 PoE interface. The high airflow, low noise fan featuring sealed ball bearings, evacuate heat from the top of the enclosure. Filters for both ports are easily removable for cleaning and replacement. The fan turns on when the internal temperature rises to 120° F (49° C) ±5° and turn off at 90° F (32° C) ±10°. An optional solid state thermostatic controller is available. Lightning Protection For optimum protection, L-com recommends that surge protection be added to the enclosure. L-com offers a wide array of Coaxial and Data Line surge protectors that can be mounted in the enclosure. The unit can accept up to two optional bulkhead-mount N-Type lightning protectors to protect the coaxial cable runs. Data line protectors can be mounted to the mounting plate.
