Knight Opticals' ground glass diffusers scatter light at angles up to 10°. They are used predominantly in two applications; firstly for focussing and secondly to enhance illumination uniformly in lighting systems.
We stock two types of ground glass diffuser; borosilicate diffusers that cover a range of 310 - 2700nm and UV silica ground glass diffusers which work down to 170nm in the UV. Both types are ground on one side and polished on the other.
Ground glass diffusers diffuse light less thoroughly than our opal diffusers but do so with less scattering losses. Our stock diffusers are available to purcahse directly from this site, and we are also able to cut and shape diffuers to custom sizes.
