IHS ESDU Estimation of turning performance. PERF EG8/1

Description
ESDU Perf EG8/1 gives equations and a graph for estimating performance in a true-banked turn at a constant angle of climb or descent and with a constant angle of bank. The resulting spiral path represents instantaneous conditions in any transient turning manoeuvre provided inertia terms except longitudinal and centripetal may be neglected. An approximate formula for the thrust boundary is derived assuming small angles and a parabolic drag law. Two worked examples illustrate the use of the methods.
