ESDU 83001 provides an approximate method for determining the uninstalled static thrust and the thrust lapse characteristics for a wide variety of constant-speed propellers. The method provides estimates of thrust for propellers operating at airspeeds up to 300 kn, and for power/diameter squared ratios between 2 and 16 hp/sq ft (16 and 128 kW/sq m) and tip speeds between 700 and 1000 ft/s (200 and 300 m/s). The data are intended for use in project estimation and are particularly suited to aeroplanes in the light and general aviation categories. ESDU 83028 shows how the method can be extended to fixed-pitch propellers.
