IHS ESDU Fire hazard properties: flash points, flammability limits and autoignition temperatures. 82030

Data on the fire hazard properties of combustible and flammable substances are essential to those engaged in the manufacture, processing, handling, transport and storage of such materials. ESDU 82030 provides explanatory notes, background information and tabular data. The notes serve only to provide a brief introduction to what is a very specialised subject with many technical and legal ramifications. Fire hazards are represented by values for flash point, fire point and flammability limits with autoignition temperatures having a relevance where elevated temperatures are involved. Reported experimental and estimated values of closed cup flash point, flammability limits and autoignition temperatures are presented in the Tables. It must be emphasised that these flammability properties are dependent on the purity of the substances and on the method of determination used.
