IHS ESDU Dynamic sealing of fluids. I: guide to selection of rotary seals. 80012

Description
ESDU 80012 describes the general characteristics of the basic types of sealing devices that are suitable for predominantly rotary shaft motion. It is intended to assist during the initial stages of the design of a sealing arrangement consisting of a sealing device, housing, shaft and associated features. Other ESDU data, or manufacturers' information where appropriate, may have to be used to allow the sealing arrangement design to be finalised. Special arrangements, depending on the severity of the particular problem, can be incorporated into the overall design to modify the sealing device's local environment and/or to upgrade the overall performance. Appendix A lists those seals most commonly used.
