ESDU 77027 gives the results of 1500 fatigue tests taken from the literature presented as a non-dimensional alternating stress parameter (involving the stress concentration factor and material tensile strength) plotted against endurance. The data include axial and bending loading on (alpha + beta) forged rod, bar and sheet with various heat treatments, axial and bending loading on beta forged bar either annealed or solution treated and age hardened, axial loading on extruded strip, and axial loading on castings either machined, shot peened, or as cast. Detailed material specifications are tabulated for each test point, and the graphs show wherever possible the effect of mean stress. The differences in fatigue performance of the various material forms are discussed.
