IHS ESDU Fatigue strength of longitudinal flange-to-web welds in steel I-beams and T-sections. 76032

Description
ESDU 76032 gives graphs of stress at the weld plotted against endurance obtained from fatigue tests in bending on I-beams and under axial load for T-sections. The data were extracted from a number of sources in the literature and relate to beams built-up by welding steel plate. Data are presented and compared for automatic and manual continuous welds, the influence of depth of penetration is shown, and the reduction in strength due to intermittent welds or cope holes is also indicated.
