IHS ESDU Stresses in the core of a sandwich panel under local normal loading. 73025

Description
Data are given for stresses under local loading applied remote from the panel edges. The panels have identical isotropic face plates and a core with equal shear stiffness in all planes through the depth. The loading is assumed to be axisymmetrically distributed over a circular area but the shape of the distribution can be varied. Graphs give the maximum shear and compressive stresses in the core as a function of core and faceplate properties and dimensions. Guidance is given on a choice of load distribution.
