ESDU 02010 provides validation for the approximate method used in Part I of Sound Radiation from Orthotropic Rectangular Plates, ESDU 02009. Averaged sound radiation efficiencies obtained by the approximate method of ESDU 02009 have been compared with experimental results for isotropic plates and for orthotropic plates in the form of (a) a corrugated plate and (b) a unidirectional carbon laminate. In all cases agreement is quite good. A numerical method, based on the estimation of modal radiation efficiency directly from the Rayleigh integral, gives good agreement with the method of ESDU 02009.
