Loctite Super Bonder 498 is a cyanoacrylate adhesive designed for bonding applications involving rubbers, plastics, and metals. This clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid comes in a 1 lb bottle and features a medium viscosity. It cures in the presence of humidity, achieving fixture times of 20 to 30 seconds on steel and as little as 2 seconds on aluminum at 22 ¬8C and 50% relative humidity. The adhesive exhibits excellent heat resistance, with a minimum operating temperature of -65 ¬8F and a maximum of +180 ¬8F. After 24 hours of curing at room temperature, it develops a lap shear strength of 19 N/mm¬= (2,755 psi) on grit-blasted steel. The product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen or strong oxidizing environments. Proper storage conditions are between 2 ¬8C and 8 ¬8C to maintain product integrity.
