Loctite 290 Threadlocker is a green liquid designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. It features a low viscosity that allows it to wick into engaged threads without the need for disassembly prior to application. The product cures anaerobically when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, providing medium to high strength to prevent loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. It can also fill porosity in welds, castings, and powdered metal parts. This threadlocker is compliant with Military Specification Mil-S-46163A and is registered to NSF Category P1 for use as a sealant in food processing areas where there is no possibility of food contact. It is also certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in potable water systems not exceeding 82¬8C. The product exhibits positive fluorescence under UV light and has a specific gravity of 1.08. Curing performance varies based on substrate and bond gap, with breakaway torque values for M10 steel nuts and bolts reaching 10 N¬?m after 24 hours at 22¬8C. The product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen or with strong oxidizing materials. Proper storage conditions are between 8¬8C and 21¬8C to maintain product integrity.
Loctite 290 green threadlocker is compatible with metal materials with a 24 hr cure time. Delivers great performance with a shear strength of 780 psi and tensile strength of 90 psi. Minimum to maximum operating temperatures are -65 F to +300 F.
