It uses H2W voice coil motor NCC15-24-050-1R. Each voice coil has a 1.50" [38.1 mm] stroke; generates 8.4 lbs [37.4 N] of continuous force and 25.2 lbs [112 N] of peak force. The 1.0-micron resolution encoder allows for precise positioning. It comes supplied with a rigid recirculating ball linear bearing. The motor coil is the moving part of the assembly in order to reduce the moving mass of the system. Power is supplied to the motor via a high flex, high reliability flat ribbon cable. The voice coil motors have been mounted centered and over the bearing assembly in order to reduce the overall width and length of the system.
