FTL Technology Carbon Bearings

Description
Self-lubricating carbon/graphite bearings are ideal for applications where marginal or zero lubrication exists. Additives, including metal alloys, can improve the performance of carbon/graphite bearings. These impregnated composite materials allow bearings to be use in more extreme applications than their standard carbon/graphite counterparts. It is also possible to replace ball bearings, metal and plastic bushings, and ordinary hard carbon bushings with an impregnated composite material to reduce maintenance costs and downtime. All standard and impregnated bearings are self-lubricating, ideally suited to applications where there is intermittent lubrication or initial dry running on start up - as in the case of a vertical pump. The impregnation extends consistently throughout the material, resulting in no performance drop as a result of wear. The absence of grease or oil means these bushings do not attract dust or other foreign abrasive particles. Standard and impregnated bearings eliminate fire hazards. They operate intermittently and unattended over long periods, or where machines have to be steam cleaned. They will not spark, and are recognised as safe bearings in potentially explosive working environments. Metal impregnated bearings are available in a wide range of grades, each of which can be aligned to the needs of a specific application. We also offer FDA-compliant grades for food process equipment. Advantages: High thermal temperature limit Low co-efficient of expansion Self lubricating Non-galling FDA approved Common Applications: Hot and cold water pumps Vertical pumps Chemical pumps High temperature rollers Cryogenic pumps
