Titebond GREENchoice Acoustical Sound Sealant 2892

Description
Titebond GREENchoice Professional Acoustical Sound Sealant is a non-flammable, latex-based product designed specifically for the reduction of sound transmission in wall partition systems. Its primary function is to achieve and maintain the specific STC (Sound Transmission Class) value of the system designed. GREENchoice Acoustical Sound Sealant remains permanently flexible and adheres firmly to wood or metal studs, concrete, gypsum board, and most other types of building substrates. Its unique formulation is non-drying, non-hardening, non-staining and non-migrating. The sealant is used for unexposed applications at perimeter joints, floor and ceiling runners (either wood or metal), cutouts in gypsum board, veneer plaster systems, and other areas where a sound rated assembly is required. Download Titebond GREENchoice Acoustical Sound Sealant Environmentally safe - VOC-compliant Eliminates sound transmission and seals air gaps Improves STC Values and upgrades sound quality Repairs cracks and eliminates rattles in drywall and plaster Mold and mildew resistant Easily tools with one pass Cleans easily with water in wet state Cartridge and carton contain post-consumer recycled material Application Temperature 40°F. to 120°F. Service Temperature Range -20°F. to 150°F. Method of Application Cartridge/caulking gun Working Time Approximately 10-15 minutes for 1/4"bead Working Surfaces Surfaces to be sealed should be clean, dry and free from oil, grease and any other material that may deter adhesion. Cleanup Clean with water while caulk is wet. Scrape off dried excess caulk with a putty knife. STC Ratings Edge Detail STC Value Comments Uncaulked 29 The open-edge track gave the STC value of 29 through direct leakage Single bead at the perimeter of one base layer 49 This bead closed void but did not seal leakage around the joint between wallboard and track Two beads, one under each base layer of gypsum board 53 The beads closed void and sealed leakage around track Note: Taken from ASTM C919. The test partitions of metal studs 610 mm (24 in.) on center, with double layers of 13 mm (0.5 in.) wallboard screw-attached to each side. Sound attenuation blanket, 38 mm (1.5 in.), was placed in the void. The partition panels were erected, shimmed out 3mm (0.125 in.) at the periphery: top, bottom, and edges. Surface Burning Characteristics for Building Materials Flame Smoke 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 -Tested as applied in two 1/4" diameter beads, 8 in. O.C.(Coverage: 2.8 percent of the exposed test sample area). If using outside, do not apply if rain is expected within 12 hours. Not recommended for continuous submersion or use below the waterline. For best results, store above 40°F.
