TECAPET black is a black pigmented PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) material with a density of 1.38 g/cm¬=. It exhibits a modulus of elasticity of 485,000 psi and a tensile strength at yield of 10,000 psi at 73 ¬8F. The elongation at yield is 4%, while the elongation at break reaches 50%. Its flexural strength is measured at 16,000 psi, and it has a compression strength of 3,600 psi at 1% strain and 14,000 psi at 10% strain. The material has a Shore hardness of 85 D and a Rockwell hardness of 93 M. TECAPET black demonstrates very good chemical resistance, low moisture absorption (0.04% at 24 hours), and excellent wear properties. It has a melting temperature of 490 ¬8F and a long-term service temperature of 230 ¬8F, with intermittent service up to 320 ¬8F. The thermal expansion coefficient is 3.9 x 10,Ū,Å? in/in/¬8F. Electrical properties include a volume resistance of 10^10 Oc*cm and a dielectric strength of 400 V/mil. This material is suitable for applications in industries such as packaging and paper machinery, semiconductor technology, and mechanical engineering, making it a versatile choice for projects requiring durability and resistance to various environmental factors.
TECAPET black PET is the black pigmented version of our standard PET polyester. Among other excellent product features, Ensinger's TECAPET PET is also designed for improved machining properties. In addition, as a result of the black coloration, PET black also offers improved UV protection for external use applications.
