DU® cylindrical bushes are metal-polymer anti-friction bearings designed for dry and lubricated applications in industrial, aerospace, and heavy equipment environments. They consist of a steel backing, a porous bronze sinter layer, and a filled PTFE sliding layer. These bearings support linear, oscillating, and rotating movements with a maximum operating temperature of 280°C and a maximum sliding speed of 2.5 m/s in dry conditions or 5.0 m/s when oil lubricated. They meet FAR 25.853 and FAR 25.855 for interior aircraft use. Shaft surface roughness should be 0.3-0.5 μm for dry operation and ≤0.40 μm for lubricated conditions, with HB > 200 recommended for enhanced life. The coefficient of friction ranges from 0.02 to 0.25 in dry service and 0.02 to 0.12 when oil lubricated.
Our metal-backed, PTFE-based (polytetrafluoroethy
The metal backing provides mechanical strength, while the bronze sinter layer provides a strong mechanical bond between the backing and the bearing lining. This construction promotes dimensional stability and improves thermal conductivity.
These polymer bearing linings, being predominantly PTFE, offer exceptionally low friction.
