DIODES Incorporated LED Drivers AL8860WT-7

The AL8860WT-7 is a hysteresis mode DC-DC step-down converter designed for driving single or multiple series connected LEDs from a higher voltage source. It operates with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 40V and can deliver an adjustable output current of up to 1A in the TSOT25 package and 1.5A in the MSOP-8EP package, providing up to 40 watts of output power depending on the supply voltage and external components. This LED driver integrates a power switch and a high-side output current sensing circuit, allowing for precise control of the output current through an external resistor. Dimming capabilities are supported via an external control signal on the CTRL pin, which can accept either a DC voltage or PWM signal. The device features a soft-start function, LED short protection, inherent open-circuit LED protection, and overtemperature protection, ensuring reliable operation. The AL8860WT-7 is suitable for various applications, including LED retrofits for low voltage halogen lighting, low voltage industrial lighting, illuminated signs, and external drivers with multiple channels. It is available in a Pb-free TSOT25 package and is fully RoHS compliant.
