The KAG2-20R1 is a right-hand helical worm gear with a module of 2, 20 teeth, and one start, designed for use with matching worms. It features a 12mm bore, 33mm hub width, 46mm outside diameter, and 18mm face width. The gear is made of CAC702 aluminum bronze with no heat treatment, and has a standard full-depth tooth profile with a 20° normal pressure angle. Precision grade is KHK W 002 grade 2. Allowable torque at 30 rpm is 21.0 N·m, with backlash between 0.11 and 0.24 mm and a weight of 0.26 kg. J-series variants with larger bores are available on request but not specified for this model.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
