An equilateral dispersing prism has an equilateral triangle in the cross-section with the three sides of equal length. They are used for wavelength separation. A light ray is refracted twice, passing through the prism with total deviation denoted by qd top angle. Deviation is a function of refractive index, and hence wavelength. Angular dispersion is the difference in deviation for light rays having different wavelengths and varies with prism orientation.
