Corning's optical couplers are fused fiber branching devices that split off a portion of light to allow for optical monitoring and feedback. These devices are used extensively in fiber amplifier power control, and in transmission equipment for performance monitoring and feedback control. Our ultra-low polarization dependent loss couplers offer low levels of sensitivity to polarization, enable more effective monitoring and management of optical networks. These couplers are available in a wide range of split ratios, lengths, and packaging.
Corning’s fused WDM couplers are used to combine and separate optical signals transmitted on different wavelengths. This function provides the first level of bandwidth expansion for a network by increasing a fiber’s signal carrying capacity. Fused WDM couplers may also be used to add additional functionality to the network such as network status monitoring. Our fused fiber WDM couplers provide a cost-effective way to minimize loss and maximize wavelength isolation.
