The PN2222A is a silicon NPN epitaxial planar transistor for small signal and general purpose switching applications, housed in a TO-92 package. It has a collector-emitter voltage rating of 40 V, a continuous collector current of 800 mA, and a power dissipation of 625 mW. The device exhibits a current gain (hFE) of 100 to 300 at VCE=10 V and IC=150 mA, and 25 to 40 at VCE=10 V and IC=500 mA. The saturation voltage VCE(sat) is 1.0 V maximum at IC=500 mA and IB=50 mA, and VBE(sat) is 2.0 V maximum under the same conditions. The transition frequency is 300 MHz at VCE=20 V and IC=20 mA. The operating and storage junction temperature range is from -65°C to +150°C.
