The Avago AEDL-981x is a series of high resolution 3-channel optical incremental encoder modules with integrated differential line driver IC supporting RS-422 outputs. Based on the Avago AEDT-981x encoder and the AM26C31Q line driver IC, the AEDL-981x supports a wide range of encoding resolution from 1,000 to 5,000 counts per revolution (CPR) using a codewheel of 11mm optical radius and provides complementary outputs for each encoder channel (i.e., A, A/, B, B/, I, and I/). Recommended line receiver ICs for the AEDL-981x include the AM26LS32 and AM26LS33. The module series is industrial grade with operating temperature from -40 °C to +115 °C.
With built-in LED brightness autoregulation, the AEDL-981x maintains an optimal encoder performance across spatial corners with low current consumption. The AEDL-981x offers a wide spatial error tolerance of 0.4 mm and codewheel gap range of +/-0.15 mm, providing ease of motor shaft alignment and enhancing photo detector signal integrity.
