The Avago AEDC-5xxx is a series of high resolution 2- and 3-channel housed encoder module kits with connector latch providing strong connector retention. Each AEDC-5xxx kit contains an AEDT-981x module and a film codewheel. The outputs of the AEDC-5xxx are two square waves in quadrature (plus an index pulse signal for the 3-channel version). The AEDC-5xxx can accommodate shaft diameters from 2 mm to 8 mm. The electrical interface is through five (for single-ended version) or ten (for differential version) 0.025-inch square pins on 0.100-inch centers. Interface cable assemblies to meet customer requirements are also available. The differential (line driver) version is ideal for use in noisy environments or when the encoder is required to drive long cables. The AEDC-5xxx uses an industry standard RS422 compatible line driver IC, the AEIC-7272, which provides differential outputs for each of the encoder channels. Recommended line receiver ICs for the AEDC-5xxx include the AM26LS32 and AM26LS33. The encoder kits are designed for quick and easy mounting on motors.
