The PCA9306 is a dual bidirectional I²C-bus and SMBus voltage-level translator designed for mixed-mode applications. It operates within a voltage range of 1.0V to 3.6V on one side and 1.8V to 5.5V on the other, allowing seamless voltage translation without the need for a direction pin. The device features low ON-state resistance of 3.5Ω, which minimizes signal distortion and supports Standard-mode, Fast-mode, and Fast-mode Plus I²C-bus devices, as well as SMBus devices. With a maximum propagation delay of less than 1.5ns, the PCA9306 can accommodate multiple masters and different bus frequencies, enabling operation at 400kHz and 100kHz. Pull-up resistors are required for proper operation, and the device provides high-impedance states when disabled. The PCA9306 is available in various package types, including SOIC-8, and is suitable for applications requiring robust ESD protection, exceeding 2000V HBM.
